The center of Herceg Novi is Stari Grad, decorated by buildings dating back to the epochs of Sahat - Kula (1667) and Kanli - Kula (1483). Fortress Spanjola (1538) and Fortress Forte Mare (1687) are only a part of the cultural heritage of this renowned town. Full of thick greenery, Herceg Novi hides numerous kinds of tropical flowers. Towards the end of January the town becomes scented with the subtle fragrance of yellow and green mimosas and the Mimosa Festival is dedicated to this flower.

Perast is a little town situated at the foot of St. Elijah Hill (873 m), opposite the narrow Verige strait, where the innermost bays of Risan and Kotor converge. This easternmost shore was the earliest inhabited area in the Boka. The remains of a Neolithic culture (3500 BC) have been discovered in the caves of Spila above Perast and various archaeological finds provide evidence of civilization dating from Illyrian, Roman and early Christian periods. Preceded by two jewel-like islands, Perast is focused on the sea. Despite its size, a sophisticated urban structure has arisen, demonstrated by the proportion, scale, massing and rhythm of the great number of public buildings, especially along the waterfront.
